Ah Logan Square, the Echo Park of Chicago. And like Echo Park, there’s no shortage of hipster cafés in this neighborhood. And Gaslight Coffee Roasters is one of them. Unlike the LA hipster coffee shop counterparts, though, Gaslight isn’t flooded with screenwriters and freelance creatives. Like most independent coffee shops in Chicago, despite the quality coffee and free wifi and outlets, it’s usually not hard to snag a table at Gaslight.
Inside, the cafe looks the part: brick walls, vintage-y wallpaper, industrial shabby-chic furnishings and rustic animal paraphernalia mounted on the walls. It feels homey in a cabin-turned-cafe kind of way. But most importantly they roast their own beans so you know they know what’s up. They also have a seasonal breakfast and lunch menu (in addition to a tempting pastry case) so you can grab a bite with your coffee.
